Overview

Public Health Nursing is a field of practice and scholarship that promotes health, prevents disease, and supports the physical, mental, and social well-being of people living in communities. Our program aims to educate public health nurses who can address health issues not only at the individual level but also at the family, group, and community levels.
The Public Health Nurse Program offers Japan’s only comprehensive curriculum that systematically integrates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) into public health nursing education. Students learn the full spectrum of public health nursing practice, from community assessment and health education to program planning, evaluation, and policy development, using both data-driven approaches and community-based perspectives.
Through field training in diverse settings—including public health centers, municipal governments, schools, occupational health services, and rural and remote communities—students develop the practical skills needed to support community health and address public health challenges. Our graduates are actively contributing to health promotion and disease prevention as public health nurses throughout Japan.
