Gerontological nursing science is a field of study on people in old age and their families. It aims to help learners understand physical, psychological and social changes such people experience, and master theories and techniques to help them fulfill themselves in and at the end of their lives, with the goal of improving the quality of their lives in medical institutions, facilities, or their own homes. Learners are also expected to understand healthcare, medical, and welfare activities to realize the roles of nursing among these.
